Doomie’s Toronto

Doomie’s has finally arrived in Toronto! Born in Los Angeles, this popular vegan restaurant provides delicious comfort food. I’ve been really into vegan food lately and was so excited to hear about their opening in the Parkdale area! DSC07407_Fotor.jpgDSC07408_Fotor.jpgAlthough it appears that there are no line-ups upon arrival, we quickly realized there is a long wait time because you can leave your name and number and they will text you when a table is available for your party. The wait time can vary between 30 mins to 2 hours during peak times.DSC07450_Fotor.jpg
The vegan Big Mac ($16) is by far the most popular item and is actually on their secret menu. This also comes with a side of fries. The Big Mac is a must-order! We were surprised by the large portion and how high it stacked. This is like the actual full-sized Big Mac you see in McDonald’s advertisements (that you never get in real life). It taste just like McDonald’s Big Mac except no animals were harmed in the making of this vegan burger. The Big Mac at Doomie’s is saucy, and pretty messy but nonetheless very tasty. Yummm!DSC07447_Fotor.jpg
To upgrade the fries to their special “Fun Times fries”, it is an additional $3 (or additional $5 for the “Xtra Fun fries”). We upgraded one of our meals to the Animal Fries, which is topped with thousand island dressing, cheese, and grilled onions. It is greasy but it is delicious. Also, if you love the Mac sauce from McDonald’s, this is for you!

The regular fries pictured below are crispy and definitely not as greasy as the Animal Fries.DSC07456_Fotor.jpgDSC07455_Fotor.jpg
South in Yer Mouth
($15) is vegan BBQ pulled pork with mac and cheese on a toasted roll. If you’re not vegan or vegetarian, you can tell that the vegan pulled pork is a little different than real pulled pork. This item is a unique combination but not as spot on as the Big Mac.DSC07471_Fotor.jpg
The wall art leading to the bathroom is full of fun comics with vegan jokes.DSC07436_Fotor.jpg
They have a full bar with an assortment of drinks, including white and red sangria which is perfect for the upcoming patio weather.DSC07452_Fotor.jpg
Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. Whether you are vegan or not, you won’t be disappointed by the comfort food at Doomie’s. Personally, I love salads from vegan restaurants because they are packed with a large variety of wholesome ingredients but often disappointed by the vegan meat alternatives. However, Doomie’s has proved to me that vegan burgers can be as tasty as real meat. The table next to us were ordering tacos and they look so delicious. That will be on my list for my next visit!DSC07424_Fotor.jpg
